Winchester M 74?

I picked it up for near nothing. It is a .22 short only rifle and the stock is trashed. Is the stock the same for the .22 long? Any info on the DOM for serial number 24XXX?

  Yes and 1949.

  The correct year of manufacture is 1939.

  You Tube has a pretty good "how to" disassemble and ressemble the thing - the poster's name is "Morucu" or Mariachi - something like that. There's evidently a "be careful and don't ever do this" moment with the 74 disassembly.
