Something new that I picked up recently
Since there seems to be several of you that are familar with these, maybe you can help me out...
I stumbled across this at my local flea-market, and after a bit of haggling, I was able to somehow find enough $$$ in my wallet to manage taking it home... I know, I know, it is not a WINCHESTER, but it is one of JMB's finer accomplishments. Please let me know if I screwed up[;)]
The inspectors initials appears to be WGP? The serial number is 41575.
Did I screw and waste my hard earned $$$?

Nice! Made in 1913. Only something like 32,000 total were Navy marked prior to 1916. Few are still around outside of collections. Sure looks original to me.

Not bad. Needs a little work. Now all you need to do is sit down with some sandpaper and steel wool and get all of those old scratches off. Then an hour or two on the buffing wheel. Make it shine like new! [}:)][;)] Then a nice coat of cold blue and you'll really have something. 0 -

That is a great find...every bit as good as your sacred Winchester's. It also has the branch in which you have served in on...can I say BONUS!!!!!!!![:D][:D][:D]
If I am not mistaken, that will go bang more than once per loading, unlike the Winchester 1885. Does that mean you will have to take your shoes off now to count rounds, since your hand will be full of 1911?[:0][:D][:0][:D]

OK fellows... and to be perfectly honest, I did not "stumble across this gun at a Flea-market", I was just using a fair bit of tongue-in-cheek when I mentioned that.
I have actually been pursuing this gun for quite some time now, and I was finally able to get my foot firmly wedged in the door during a real weak moment by the former owner. It is a righteous piece, unmessed with, and 100% original as far as I can tell. My local 'smith (a retired Sergeant Major USMC) checked it over real closely and blessed it for me as well. I did have to keep a drool rag close by while he inspected it[:D]. I felt remorse for the former owner's loss for about 1.9 nano-seconds[:0][:D]0
