Brass Shotgun Shells
Have a bunch of brass shotgun shells. The head stamps are Remington and Winchester. The one takes 209 primers and the other takes either large rifle or large pistol primers. Can anyone give me information what powder to use and what components are required to shoot the shells? Are the shells worth anything? The shells appear to be once fired. There is no crimp on the shells.

Does anyone sell loaded brass shotgun shells in BP? I know that Magtech has the cases but I havn't found any loaded rounds. 0 -

do an internet search, i have found several places that sell them.
many,many years ago the .gov ordered several ammo bunkers at the Fallbrook ammo facility to be cleared out and deep water dumped, a friend worked there, he asked his supervisor if there was any way he could obtain some of the 12 gage brass ammo, the supervisor was a real decent folk, he said, "IF some of the wooden boxes were "accidentally dropped and the contents spilled out, i only need to confirm the lot number was dumped", you would not believe how many wooden crates were "accidentally" dropped by the loading crew, i was the happy recipient of 200 rounds of brass 12 gage rounds, i could have had 1,000 rounds of 30-06 but didn't have a rifle for that ammo so i turned it down, besides it was corrosive.0 -

Hi,
I have never seen loaded brass bp shells for sale anywhere. I imagine they would be pretty expensive. If you use the shells repeatedly in the same shotgun, you may find that you do not have to resize them, so reloading would be easier. Try, Cheaper than Dirt; I recall that they sold a variety of shotgun shells at one time. Also, another supplier might be Track of the Wolf, known for various and sundry items. Both these suppliers are online.
Try the Reloading Forum here in the gunbroker forums and ask your questions. If no luck there, go to the SASS website and into the SASS Wire Forum and ask your questions there. You will have to sign up as a guest and choose an alias (usernmae). Many of those people shoot bp and might be helpful..
Regarding reloading, since you probably will not be using many of these, Lee may, I do not know for sure, make a "Lee Loader" for the 12 gauge shells. These are reloading tools that you must use a mallet with to drive shells into and to deprime and prime. They had them for rifle and pistol, but I don't know about shotgun. Pretty quick, once you get the hang of it. The also have an extremely inexpensive shotgun loading outfit, but I do not know if it would work with brass shells.0
