S&W TSW4553... DAO?

Has anyone experience concerning the DAO operation of this pistol?

It has no safety or decocking lever and requires the firing pin/hammer to be pretensioned BEFORE the trigger will actuate the hammer.

My concern is since there's NO outward actuated safety or decocker, can it fire unexpected if slammed hard... like falling to the floor?

To carry this pistol safely, must the chamber be 'unloaded' and then actuate the slide to load and 'pre-cock' the hammer/firing pin...?

Seems to me that there ought to be an internal firing pin block that is deactivated once the trigger is actuated and allows the firing of the pistol.

Short of this concern it's got a sweet, smooth trigger pull... and I'm lookin' forward to some intimate range time with her.

  Have no personal experience with this S & W. Have owned a Glock since they first hit the U.S. civilian market in the mid 80's, though.
  
  Never had a problem with it even though it hasn't a manual safety/decocking lever. As long as you keep your finger off the trigger it's as safe as a box of Girl Scout Smores. You have a brain fart and put you finger on the trigger when you shouldn't, you might wind up like Plaxico Burress, or even worse with your family jewels gone.

  I have handled one some. The hammer is NOT "pre-cocked" It is at rest when the slide is forward. There is a firing pin safety to prevent it from hitting a round in the chamber until the trigger is pulled.
