Your going to have to have it professionally crated, cardboard box & plastic peanuts aren't going to work if you want to arrive undamaged. 0 -
When my son moved, the movers built a container for his elk shoulder mount using 2" lumber and plywood. They actually hung it inside the box before filling the empty space with packing. If you just put the mount in a box with peanuts, I assure you it will not be the same when it gets delivered. 0 -
A friend had his trophies mounted where shot... in Africa; then shipped home. They were screwed to the sides of the crate like Mobuck describes and it looked like a three dimensional jigsaw puzzle. 0 -
And you might want to give some thought to which shipper to use before you show up with the package. Some charge pretty high fees (e.g. $800 between Dallas and St. Louis for a shoulder mount white tail) supposedly because of the past damage costs they've incurred in shipping mounts. Seems like it should cost a whole lot less but that was what we ran in to a couple years ago in trying to get one shipped. 0 -
Sounds like "ROAD TRIP" on a Greyhound[:D]! I mean after seeing how much it'll cost crating and then shipping. 0 -
Just moved my 10 pointer up to Pa to the cabin...
After carfully bagging it and placing it with packing materials. Just the ride up in the back of my suv required some contact cement b4 re mounting on the wall. One of the ears cracked on the tip.
Depending on how old the mount is count on some work. At the far end no matter what.0 -
thanks much to each of you for your experienced advice!
