Generally speaking, any of the metal framed Taurus pistols are of decent quality and fairly reliable. That being said I hope you never need to use their customer service.
Just my 2 cents, but I would a stick to a more reputable manufacturer with a better history of customer service and quality control. Especially when you take into consideration that the price of Taurus pistols has gone up and their quality has not.0 -
It basically a model 92 scaled down slightly and re-designed to take .380.
It ought to be reliable, but its a pretty big gun for a .380s.
New fat magazines stick out the gun bottom and can hold up to 19 rounds plus one in the chamber, so that's a plus.
New guns run about $500 give or take $50 .
Used ones can be had for about $300, again give or take a bit depending on finish and condition.
Personally, I wouldn't buy one.
For that size gun, I might as well be shooting 9mm luger, which is less expensive, and considerably more powerful. But this might make a decent high cap semi-auto gun for someone who is recoil shy.0 -

You'd get faster and better service from Taurus than Sig, S&W and Browning COMBINED.

I am not sure where you got that notion, but you have been very ill advised. I would refrain from making statements like that, and removing all doubt.

The question isn't about Taurus customer service, its about the PT-58 pistol.
Trying to add a bit on-topic, I read somewhere that the PT-58 was specifically designed for a Latin American market where civilians can't own pistols in 9mm luger caliber. If true, this would explain why you have a medium frame handgun in a small caliber. If a .380 is the biggest handgun caliber you can legally own then it may make sense to put it into a high-capacity service-sized pistol. That's doubly true if you also aren't allowed to carry concealed weapons.
In contrast, if you can own most any conventional handgun you like (as you can in most of the United States), then in my opinion the .380 round is best suited for its designed purpose as a pocket pistol round.

With respect to customer service, if the pistol is good, then the quality of its manufacturers customer service is irrelevant.
Fortunately, I've never needed to use Taurus customer service to have any guns fixed (not in small part because I don't own any Taurus guns!) and so I can't comment firsthand on its quality or lack thereof. The one time I called them about a product question, I was able to promptly reach someone who was able to help me, to within the extent one might reasonably expect from a general customer service rep (it was a pretty specific question, and they had to call someone up the chain of command to answer it).
I have also interacted with Smith and Wesson customer service multiple times, never had a problem reaching them, and have always found them to be helpful.
The one time I had a broken gun, I had no problem reaching customer service quickly on the phone, and they explained to me exactly what I needed to do to get the gun fixed. After sending it in, they had it back to me fixed perfectly in about 7 weeks at no charge. I have no complaints.0 -
My experience with s&w was awful. It was approximately 11 years ago. They asked me what type of ammo that I had shot in them. I told them winchester white box and remington umc 357 magnum and 44 magnum. I had one model 686 4 inch barrel stainless 357, one model 29 44 mag 8 inch barrel, and one model 19 357 magnum snub nose. All three were out of battery. They told me that they would not honor their lifetime warranty because I had fired "hot" ammo through them. The fact is I only fired the ammo that I bought at walmart. Unfortunately I had to pay for the repair on all three and the shipping both ways. Once returned 13 weeks later, I sold them on consignment. Lesson learned! NEVER, EVER buy a s&w, EVER AGAIN. After I sold them I bought 2 ruger sp101 snub nose 357 magnum revolvers and never looked back. The best revlovers I have ever owned. They eat anything I feed them, with zero problems. I know that this has nothing to do with taurus but since everyone was sharing their experiences, thought I would to. Just my 2 cents. Best 0
