Savage 1895 in 303 Savage value

I have a Savage lever action serial number is 4591. It has an octogon barrel and a hole at the top to indicate whether it's cocked or not. There is is also a hole on the left side of the reciever that indicates how many rounds are loaded.
My friend wants me to sell it for him and I have no idea of it's value.

  Without detailed close up well lit pictures your question is sort of like us asking you. "I have a Brick 3 bedroom house on one acre lot . What should I sell it for"[?] Help us to help you.
  
  EDIT Nice old Savage the crack in the buttstock will hurt but I for one would rather have one like yours then one that has been messed with . The 303 is NOT a popular cartridge so this will also hurt along with entire rifle is browned out . The Tang sight is a PLUS along with the OCT barrel. SOOOOO where does that leave us with your original question what is it worth[?][?] If bore is DARK and even slightly pitted I would say $200.00 - $250.00 but if barrel is shiney then $400.00-$500.00 YMMV

  No estimate of worth - just a personal story. Harvested my first deer with a .303 99 many years ago - middle 1950's. It looks like in picture #2, that the cartridge guide on the top front of the bolt has broken off. This is what happened to mine, and when I inquired of Savage about repair or parts, they replied - NO PARTS. However, if I shipped them my gun along with $45.00, they would have sent me a new 99 in 300 Savage caliber. I didn't have $45.00 - end of that story. Maybe Savage would still be willing to work a trade?

  I owned one of these for a short time and read that they only produced about 5500 or so and that they were actually subcontracted to Marlin and submitted to the army for testing as a service rifle ???
