Sig P229 Houlsters
I just bought a new SIG 229 40 cal with the "E2" slide configuaration. Unfortunately the only approved P229 houlster SIG sells doesn't accomodate this pistol. Can anyone recommend a good paddle and/or shoulder houlster?

The Blackhawk Serpa holster works well. They come highly recommended. For little money they are worth it. I like the button on its side to release the weapon. To me, its a holster with a safety built in. Its one more step to prevent accidental discharge or for the pistol to fall out of if you had to run while wearing it. In the region of the country where I live, it sales for $65.00-$99.00. Just my 2 cents. Best 0 -
+1 on the Serpa. I have been carrying a P-229 for more than 15 years both on and off duty. Obviously, it is the early frame, I have used the old Helwig paddle (leather over steel) and like it very much except for its weight. I have gone to the Fobus paddle and like it to, even if it doesn't have the adjustable draw tension of the Helwig. It is light and shows no sign of wearing out. It does not have the lock button of the Serpa, but does click in to the trigger guard with the outline of the holster shell. It will pass the "jump" test for retention, but not the rear take-away. 0 -

Their CQQR(close quarters quick release) products are better than any paddle holster ever made.
I am surprised at the guys, and gals in the LEO profession that choose paddle holsters for off duty carry. SHAME ON YOU! One of the biggest things in a confrontation, is retaining your weapon. A goon can grab your gun, holster and all, and snap the paddle off inside your pants, leaving you with the paddle, and him with your gun.
These are almost as quick as a paddle holster, and have great renention. The SERPA holsters are for nimrods.

Sorry about that Garth, but that was a generalized statement, and not aimed directly at you. IMHO, the SERPA's have very limited uses, unless they are a slip on belt model, and most guys get them because they look TACTI-COOL. They have no real function. The real guys like the fella's that just lost their life in that horrific helicopter crash, use the Alessi holster's as listed above.
As for the slam against paddle holster's, I stand by that. They are for lazy people, who don't understand that they could be risking their life, and the lives of other's by using them. I think they all should be taken off the market, and the folks that market them as the latest, and greatest, should be burned at the stake.0 -
The world we live in is made up of all different types of people(firearms/holsters). If we all were the same(firearms/holsters), this world would be a boring place to live in. Its a great day in America where the majority can except differences(firearms/holsters) and enjoy them. Not everything is for everyone, but then again "differences" is what makes the world go around. Just because people like and enjoy those "differences", DOES NOT make them "nimrods". I think we can all agree that there is no need for "name calling" on the forums. Speaking only for myself, I DO NOT enjoy being verbally berated or ambushed by an opinionated someone on their "high horse". That sort of bad experience tends to push others away from Gunbroker all together. I'm not a fan of paddle holsters and only have one which is an ITac for my SIG(the one from SIG's website). Have you tried Fobus or Blade Tech? Blade Tech can make you a holster as well--if you need
I personally like leather and El Paso Saddlery is tops for me--they do make a paddle for a SIG229 and they make shoulder holsters too.
