Looking at a Bulldog S/N 462139, anybody got a DOM on it? Thanks.

From the data base I'm compiling on the 1st Generation Charter Arms guns: s/n 500,000 was reached in mid Sept. 1979. Your gun's serial number is 37,800 numbers before that. At that time, it appears CA was making 35K to 40K guns per year - so extrapolation would put your gun some where in mid 1978.

Thanks a lot. I always liked the Bulldogs, I see there's a Pug with 2 1/2 inch barrel and bobbed hammer on the auction side. That would make a good CC gun, I think.

Chevelle - see my answer on your other posting about this gun.
I've found that the dates the current Charter Arms gives out are guesses and in most cases are not accurate. They don't have the old 1st Gen. production records - they were turned in to the BATFE.

That target Bulldog is very light (19oz), accurate and good for CCW.
I've fired very heavy Keith loads out of mine.
If the backstrap of factory rubber grips are ground down flat to the S&W Model 60 contour, it fits great and shoots heavy loads better than with standard factory wood,rubber or Pachmayr (shown) grips.
I wouldn't sell mine.
