Albanian and general SKS questions.
For whatever reason I have been buying SKS rifles since I was in my teens. Just recently figured I might as well get them all, haha.
I was looking for an Albanian tonight and there is only one on Gunbroker right now and he states in the auction that there was only 1800 of them made.
My question is--were there really only 1800 or so made?
I realize there are alot of variations but if one wanted a pretty complete collection what would it include?

i read there were only about 5000-6000 inported into the USA, i have one that i got in a deal and have never fired it(still in cosmoline). serial number is 0515-78, and i think its a common date. its in very good condition. eastbank. 0 -
Mine has #0917-78 stamped in it, for what it's worth.
I'm assuming the 78 is the YOM.

No, there were a lot more than 1800 made. But, no one knows the number. There were probably at least that many imported, but, again, no one really knows.
A complete collection would include:
-Russian
-Chinese commercial
-Romanian
-Yugo
-Albanian
-Chinese military
-N Korean
-E German
-N Vietnamese
The 4 at the bottom of the list were never (legally) imported into the US, so finding them will be a real challenge.
