32 S&W Long load needed

I just got a bunch of 32 ACP (.312) 60 gr JHP bullets cheap. I need a load for them for my 32 S&W Long. Its a model 31. A friend is loading 3.5 grains of 231 behind a 77 gr lead bullet but has nothing for a 60 grain JHP. Can anyone help?

  Trial and error, start off with your friends load. Then increase it by 3/10's of a grain. If it's successful increase it by another 3/10's of a grain, etc. etc.
  
  I believe that the 31 is one of the older lightweight I frame Smiths, I wouldn't be pushing your luck and trying to work up any petal to the metal, red line loads for it. I caused a older 50's vintage Model 37 to go out of time, and start spiting lead, by shooting some of my handloads in it.

  My model 31 was built in 1992. Thanks for the advice. I am not looking for anythig red hot out of a 32 S&WL. Just something for the 60 gr bullet
