Correct Sight Hood For Pre-64 Model 70

Most Pre-64 Winchester Model 70s I've seen have front sight hoods that are beveled on both the front and back ends. In other words, the ends are cut with a slant toward the middle. However, I've seen a few Pre-64 Model 70 hoods on rifles made from about 1960-1963 that have one end that's slanted and the other end that's straight. Which is correct, both or the one with the double bevel? I ask because most after market hoods for the Pre-64 Model 70, including the majority on E-Bay, have one straight end and one slanted end. Roger Rule's book doesn't seem to cover sight hoods in any great detail, unless I missed something. I'm trying to replace the front sight hood on my 1960-era Model 70 Alaskan and I want to buy one that's correct for the rifle. Any thoughts or ideas?

  I have never seen an original sight hood for a Winchester model 70 pre-64 that was not beveled on both ends. The only hoods I have seen with only one side beveled are reproductions. The sight hood on the Winchester model 88's and 100's are the same hood as on the model 70's, and were produced past 1963 with the sight hood beveled on both ends. I see the original hoods going for $20 in very used to as much as $40 for very nice. The repro's with only one beveled edge seem to be much less in price as they are not original Winchester.
