I have aquired a mdl. 98 mauser in 8 MM with serial #4621. is there a way to tell when it was made/ Thanks

THERE ARE PROBALY 1000'S OF M-98 MAUSERS WITH THAT SER. #, EACH FACTORY USED THEIR OWN NUMBERS (AT LEAST 2 DOZ. FACTORYS MADE THE M-98, IF NOT MORE). THERE SHOULD BE THE MAKERS NAME ON TOP OF THE FRONT RECEIVER RING (OR THE SIDE OF THE RECEIVER)AND PROBABLY THE DATE TOO. A LOT OF REDONE RIFLES HAD THAT INFO 'SCRUBED' OFF DURING REBUILD.

Pics would help a bunch! Also, take the action out of the stock and take pics of the bottom of the action and barrel. A lot of proofs hide out under there.
