Montana Gold?
What is Montana Gold? Any reloading info for 9mm, 124 grain JHP, & 45 acp 185 grain? How do these JHP's compare to Gold Dot, Golden Sabre, XTP, etc.?

Montana Gold, along with Zero Bullets and Precision Delta, manufactures excellent bullets that are very accurate--and the 9mm bullets are priced to make them my choice over even cast bullets.
Gold Dots, by the way, are plated, but with a plating as think as a jacketed bullet (all the "bonded" bullets are plated--the Gold Dot is where the plated bullet was punched to make the hollow point).
The JHPs appear to be designed for expanding (I would actually prefer if they did not have the jacket serrations for expansion as I am shooting targets, not hunting or SD, so don't need to pay for that operation), but have never tested them or read about them being tested.
They use the same load data as all other jacketed bullets. Get load data for a jacketed bullet of the same weight, determine the best COL for a particular bullet in your gun(s), and work up a load starting at the STARTING load.
Recommend that they be bought in bulk for a real savings.
You can buy the 124gn JHP .355 bullets for $308/3750 or just a fraction more than 8 cents a bullet. Compare that to the standard plated bullets.0 -
