Winchester 1894 Issue
I have an 1894 Carbine that has an issue when fired. Everything works fine but when you it fires the lever pops open? Any thoughts?

I was going to say that but I thought you'd call me a smart azz. [:D]0 -
Well I guess you made it home OK Bert? 0 -
Mr. Mahan,
The design of the modern rifle & cartridge is for pressure to expand the brass case & grip the chamber walls to provide a seal. If there is any oil in the chamber or on the brass, it will slip rather than grip thus hammering the bolt to the rear. Even sizing lube residue from reloading can increase the condition you describe.
Swab your chamber with a clean, dry patch, then wipe your ammo with a rag slightly dampened with alcohol, & try again!
Hope this helps, Jim0 -

Yes, I did... a long day behind the wheel, but I made it home in just over 15-hours.0
