Long Throat FAL

I have tried to get a grip on the throat depth of my FAL. It is looking like a 2.900 C.O.L. will put the bullet (165 gr. SBT) resting on the rifling, but only a 2.825 C.O.L. will actually run through my mags. Is getting any accuracy hopless? I am going to re-check my chamber throating. My Hornady manual says the C.O.L. should be 2.875, but it won't fit the mags. The mil surplus ammo I have been shooting is only 2.800 C.O.L. and the accuracy is better than pie plate at 100 yrds. Suggestions? Can not pop for a new barrel at this time.

  FAL is intended to shoot 2-3" at 100 yards all day long. And the day after that. And the next day after that too. And for several weeks after that.
  
  There are some that are accurate, but the average FAL will be behind the average AR-10 or M1A in accuracy... but then again, it will be ahead of either in reliability.

  JUST TO NOTE; long throating by it self doesn't hurt accuracy much if any (in a fal), weatherby did just fine with 1"+ throating. now if you throat is WORN that much it's a different story.
