or do I have to send in my trigger bar and hammer?

Just bought a new Ruger LC9 today. Brought it home,cleaned it thoroughly, loaded it up and was really impressed with the first magazine of FMJ's. Accuracy was good, trigger is good, no malfunctions. Second magazine was another story. Every other round was a misfire, had to cycle the slide and reset the hammer then usually the round would fire. Examined the spent brass and discovered that the primers were not dented as they should be but appeared to flow back into the firing pin dent. Also discovered shards of brass plugging the firing pin hole. Ran a mag full of the same ammo thru a S&W with no malfunctions and none of the misshapen primers. Ammo problem or handgun problem? 0 -
Plenty of positive reviews in the gun rags(shocker) but there are plenty of negative things being said about it on some of the Ruger forums--mainly front sights falling off seemed to be the biggest complaint followed by light primer strike problems. If you do get one you need to keep the firing pin channel clean! They seem to clog up with crud & brass shavings which create the light primer strikes. Some brands of ammo seem to cause this problem more than others. 0 -
I have one as does my shooting buddy.
Both were purchased in early March of this year.
Ruger had already addressed the front sight problem before we bought our examples by installing a pin through the base of the sight, so no problem there.
I also have read some negative stories about the LC9, most seem "silly", or, parroting what they heard, with no personal hands on experience . sometimes just because they hate Bill Ruger ( who is dead ) or just the brand.
Sort of a Chevy vs Ford thing.
ANYWAY..
We have each fired over 500 rounds each through our LC9's, neither of us has had any problem at all with them. Both have been 100% .
I would think anyone having crud or brass build up in the internals of any gun ,that causes malfunctions, never cleans it properly after a shooting session, if at all. The only way that I see a build up that bad would be after a marathon session of shooting, or, using really crappy ammo. Neither of which is the fault of the gun.
Some folks who complain a lot about malfunctions or problems actually cause them to happen by improper gun handling or maintenance.
If you are thinking of getting one, go for it, it is a great little pocket pistol.0 -
went to look at a ruger LC9 today NIB $369.grip was a little long from front to back for small hands but not a deal breaker.key lock is stupid so simply dont use it again not a deal breaker.magazine disconnect major minus and a deal breaker.still looking for a 9mm pocket pistol w/manual safety under $600.kahr PM9 w/safety too pricey,kimber solo also pricey and ammo picky,dont want a taurus or kel-tec.any suggestions out there?maybe sig will come out with a 9mm similar to a P238. 0
