Century Arms Double Barrel

Looked at a new Century Arms double barrel with rabbit ear hammers, when I dry fired it the hammers never touched the firing pins. However if you held the trigger back and pushed the hammer forward it would push the pin in. If it were loaded, would that change anything or is it messed up? Thanks.

  If it has return springs they may be popping the hammer back quicker than you can see.
  
  Take a pencil w/ new eraser, drop it down the barrel eraser end first, point gun straight up and pull trigger. You should hear the pencil rattle around a tad ...

  You were right. I tried something different, I held a piece of white paper against the pin and pulled the trigger. Nice little hole in the paper, did it twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Talk about quicker than the eye, that's quite an optical illusion. Thanks a lot.

  Hammer shotguns normally have a springback mechanism that leaves about one-eigth inch space between the hammer and the firing pin after firing. This is the safety mechanism that allows you to have a loaded but not cocked gun. This also allows the gun to be opened after firing because the hammer is not pushing against the firing pin which would be protruding into the primer, locking the action closed.
