The new barrels are finished and we've resumed normal PMR-30 shipments. The new twist rate of the barrels has eliminated the potential for key-holing. It ended up coming out to a 1:11 twist.
KT is famous for advertising guns well ahead of availability, then having production problems, then putting some out and having the public do their beta testing, than making a lot of running changes, then eventually about 3-4 years after their newest whatever hits the market, you can buy one that works.
That's just their M.O., not saying the guns that are the final product are bad. I own a PF-9 and like it.0 -
I bought a kel tech pmr30 about 3 months ago and I know they are still being made. The gun is great. Its light and holds 29 rounds The stories about it jaming are not correct if you use the company recomended ammo which is CCI maxy mags. I tries others and they did not perform well. I shot well over 500 rounds and did NOT have any jams, feeding or ejecting. I love it. 0 -
They started production early this spring. It can't keep up with demand though. I've only seen 2 for sale in the last 4/5 months, both from scalpers at shows trying to double or triple the MSRP price, which is in the $300-$350 range. You might check on the Rimfire Central site where these are a very popular topic. There are many people discussing how to get their hands on one. You might get a lead on how to get one without getting screwed by a scalper. 0 -
The thing about Keltek is that they will tool up to make one model for a few months and then switch over to another model. I contacted them about some of the 9mm carbinjes and was told that they make them about every 9 months or so for a 3 month run. That is why KelTek gets way behind on getting their models out.
I will say this though, KelTek has one of if not the best customer service out there IMHO. I sent back a P-32 that had been VERY mistreated by a late friend of mine. he left it to me when he dies and I had it completely rebuilt by KelTek for me to carry, they did it free of charge.0 -

The answer to your question is that the Kel Tec guns are VERY hard to find in stores (even Kel-Tec dealers).
Couple that with rumors that the guns have been pulled because they don't work right, high prices that "scalpers" have been asking for these, and you can see why some might wonder if they're still in production.
The reason for all this already been mentioned. Because of its byzantine production schedule, Kel-Tec only puts out runs of certain guns every so often, and as a result many of its guns are in short supply.0 -
