Putting A Folding Stock On A Draco Pistol?

You put a stock on it, it's a Short Barreled Rifle, ( SBR )as far as the feds are concerned.

You would have to fill out the forms, pay them the money, and get their approval, BEFORE you can legally attach the stock.

EDIT #1, I'm not altogether sure, but a ( SBR ) might be one of the items that has to be legal in your State or City of residence, and has to have written approval from your local county sheriff/chief of police before ATF will approve your application?

As they said up there ^ - adding a shoulder stock is MAKING a short barreled rifle. All paperwork, prints, OK from CLEO, AND $200 transfer tax. THEN you can add the stock. Still seem worth it?

I see no way that it can be done.

"Section 922(r), Title 18, USC makes it unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) of the GCA." ---ATF P5300.4 page 157.

Yes it is legal by BATFE.

The problem is the proper trunion.

They also make stocks that would bolt onto that back plate if you drill two holes. Ive seen it done on a draco before and on converted saiga 12s.

922(r) applies to "sporting purposes" - but putting something on the NFA removes all sporting purposes and 922r no longer applies.

Thank You Llama, I go round and round with IKIAs* about this.

But you know some dipwad just kept writing letters to Tech Branch until they gave him the answer he wanted.

Not that any letter from Tech Branch carries the force of Law. But it's the Internet and everyone knows everything.

I heard a rumor that some of these Draco's already had under folding stock rear trunions.

What does yours have for a rear trunion?
