reel to match the rod
I bought an old Fenwick (early fiberglass) 8 1/2 fly rod at an estate sale. I'm sure it has never been used. It came in an aluminum tube with a spartan sock. it has the gold clamps for the reel. I bought the rod after the reels were all sold.
This rod has never had a reel attached to it so I want to buy the correct era reel to go with it. I figured one of your guys would know what would have been available for this time frame (which is when?)
It is to be a gift to my Son for his 22nd birthday. I think it's time he stopped using his grandfathers fishing gear.
I have never been a good fly fisherman but Cory can really cast. It is a beautiful thing to watch...

Try this one. It needs a little work but if a guy is halfway handy it shouldn't be that hard to replace a spring.

Your son may want some input.
The newer reels are superior and would look as good.
Consider giving him the rod and a option.0 -
Pfluger "Vintage" or "New" they all look the same. 0
