Pictures of Padgitt Bros Scabbard

Here is the picture of the Padgitt Bros. of Dallas scabbard. This scabbard must be really rare because I can find articles about their saddles, holsters, and scabbards, and I find holsters and saddles that are being sold. But not one scabbard. This company went out of business in around 1946 so it is over 60 years old.

  Looks like a well made rig. I see very few scabbards for sale. My guess is they stay with the rifle.

  Demand, i.e. competition between two or more prospective buyers is what establishes value. Rarity has nothing to do with FMV, i.e. suppose you were selling the Crown Jewels of England and nobody wanted them, they wouldn't be worth s**t.
  
  Best thing to do before you start spending all the money your going to get from this scabbard, is to check out fleabay for the prices of similar scabbards. That would be the most likely place to find the FMV of what similar ones are going for.

  First off, it is not for sale. Second, there are none shown anywhere at all on the internet including eBay. If you like vintage leather..this is something you don't see every day.

  Interesting. I agree that it looks very well made. What is it for? Perhaps a .30-30? I have one similar that I used to mount my 30-30 to my........motorcycle!

  Back in 1987, I built the revolver that won the NYS PPC championship. Yes, there was only one of them, and it is extremely rare too.
  
  However, rarity does not always preclude value. It is supply and demand. It could be that other scabbard maker's were whipping their butts in the scabbard business, and they dropped them from their product line.

  Sorry if it was I that offended you. I was making an observation, that I have witnessed over the years. That observation, more clearly is, just because it is old, or one of a kind(or very limited production), does not preclude demand for the product. Some products, that were very nice, but failed to get market demand, were only in production breifly, before they were abruptly discontinued. Demand for a product, such as gasoline for a vehicle(which is by no means rare), is what would dictate the value.

  There is a gentleman from Salina, KS who regularly has scabbards for sell on Gunbroker listed under the "Holster" category. He has hundreds of postings for old quality leather holsters, scabbards, belts, etc. His name is Curt. I have purchased several pieces of old high quality leather from him. Check it out.
