    Robin,

Last time I looked at these they were running about $2500 for one in Mint condition. Take that and go down from there with whatever is wrong with it, as to how valuable they could be.

That's a ballpark figure. We don't know if it went over the fence, off to the side, down the middle or three times over the plate...without a picture.[;)]

At the top of this forum you will see a short tutorial on how to post pics.

    Edit:

Here's a website for you to see what you may have:

going back to the home page, this guy gives us some 2008 prices:

As of 2008, prices may vary a little but I doubt they went up, the Teno Hewer was around $1500 and the Teno Officer (not leader?) was $3000. Again, theres your ballpark estimate based on how real and how good it is.

Could be a valuable piece. Needs a hands on by a pro though, doubt if photos would be sufficient to authenticate it. Bunch of these were put together after the end of the war from parts for sale to GI's. Because of this folks who collect these are very wary of these so called GI bringbacks.

Use GOOGLE to search the net for a W W II German militeria collector or dealer who lives close. Arrange a meeting for a hands-on. Be kind of cautious though some of the guys who deal in this stuff aren't the most honest in the world. You might also try a large regional gun show if their is one close to you.

Whatever you do, don't clean it. That can reduce the value by about 30%. This is a desirable maker, but everything depends on condition. The only cloth items would be the hangers which originally suspended the dagger during wear. These are actually far more rare than the dagger itself. As stated, there are a couple dagger forums around that should be able to give you a good idea if you have some detailed photos.
