5.45X39 update
Finally got out yesterday to try out the EDGE that I rebarreled to 5.45X39. Everything was going well until I realized I hadn't put the stapler in the bag.
Since I couldn't hang a target, I could at least get some velocity readings; I didn't forget the CHRONY. One thing is for sure: ammo made for guns with 16"barrels really flies like a bat out of hell when they are launched from a 26 1/2" tube.
Got the following results; Barnaul commercial with a 59 gr. bullet=3171 fps. Ulyonovsk with a 70gr. bullet=2909 fps. Bulgarian(10) fmj military with a 52gr. bullet=3361 fps.
Overall was pretty impressed with the results. I figured there would be a dramatic increase over the shorter military barrels. Cleanup when I got back to the house was pretty easy; soaked with Hoppes and brushed about 10 strokes. I am glad now I got the stainless tube. I think the 8-groove rifling may be a good thing.
May try to get out later this week with some targets and a STAPLER. Later................

Thanks for the range report...will be interesting to hear about accuracy. 0 -
Been busy lately on the home front. Will try to do some accuracy testing in the next few weeks. I pulled a few bullets from Bulgarian surplus I have and they are really a nice looking slug;length is 1.001-1.003". Actual weight is 53.2 grs. I have no idea what the ballistic coefficient of this slug is, but it must be very high for a .22...................... 0
