Shimming Tang Sights

The recent discussion on what to use for shimming tang sights goes on. Paper is easy to work with and if you have concerns about corrosion, oil the paper before installing (will not deteriorate the paper nor make it more compressible).

  You can get shim stock from industrial catalogs and online. They come from .001" and up. You can cut the thin stuff with scissors

  Plastic milk carton material doesn't hold moisture and it is easy to hide.

  I've used the aluminum from soda cans. Cut it to size, and punch through the holes with a small drill. The radius on the can seems to approximate the radius on the tang really close!
