  Lever and breechblock for a civil war Gwyn & Campbell type I carbine.

  The lever with the turned back rear portion resembles those used on early Ballard and Cosmopolitan carbines, from the 1860's time frame.
  
  You might try doing a GOOGLE net and image search to see if you can find similar ones. If it is a lever and breechblock from one of these early Civil War era military carbines, it might have some collector value.

  Could be either? The Cosmopolitan was a predecessor of the Gwynn & Campbell.
