Winchester Model 12 Gunsmith Question
I have several Winchester Model 12s (DOM from 1935 to 1955) all 12 ga.
Only one (DOM 1941) has a stamped sheet metal part on the right side of the carrier. Any reason why?
TIA

Hello Bill, The part is listed as a 'cartridge guide'. Not sure and just a guess, but it may have been a solution for a perceived problem that never panned out and was discontinued on later model 12's. It would possibly make more sense if it were a 20ga, but you noted it is a 12ga. 0 -
It's for added 'shell retention'. Not sure why it's needed, or why it's been discontinued.
All model '97's have them. Joe0
