Jeeze, I put this on the back burner 4yrs ago, I think it's overdone.[:)]
I found a rear peep on Ebay shortly after this post, and picked up a Savage 1903 mag, but still haven't fit it to the gun. The rear of the mag needs some material removed for the bolt to clear it, and pick up a round, but I have no clue how much material, and where it needs to come off.
I've got to figure that out before I can cut the mag release slot, as that sets the depth of the mag into the receiver.
They don't make .22LR snap caps, and trying to test the feeding and cycling in an open bolt,...that just isn't going to end well.
I've found every bit of posted info on these things the net has to offer. The guy that figured out the 1903 mag conversion has never responded, and never did post a "how to".
wallyent, does yours have a factory mag? I would pay to borrow one, then this would be a 20 minute job with a Dremel, and then have my own template to make some more!
The hardest Marlin magazine to find, and the most expensive one when you do, and it's the only Marlin mag that nobody reproduces, go figure.

    Make your own snap caps.
Pry the bullets out of some live shells { a slight tilt to one side and the bullet will pop out}, dump the powder, fill with oil to kill the primers, glue the bullets back in, file/sand the deformed bullet lip from the removal action.[;)]

Tipton,A-Zoom and Pachmayr all make 22 lr snap caps.
Midway has them if not available on the G/B auction side

Pretty sure the magazine is factory original. It looks identical to the one in the zombie thread.
