  What country do you live in?
  
  I am not sure what your real question is, however I think or I blieve that you have this old artillery shell casing that you believe is for a tank-mounted cannon. I also think you are asking if anyone here knows the value of the shell casing. Is that correct?
  
  If so, you should give as much other information on this shell casing as you can, such as the country, the size (in millimeters) the tank, or any other information.
  
  You can do a Google search using this search string:
  collect artillery shell casing
  
  Using that search string I found several web sites that deal with collecting old artillery shell casings, so looking there may be very helpful for you.

  At almost 40" long {just the shell casing} I don't believe that is a Tank round, unless it is some sort of "blank" or teargas round.

  The size approximates the duplex 5in 38cal so common on WWII ships...

  Old Gunner Mates are turning over in their graves. The navy gun mentioned is a 5 inch naval rifle as they called as they called it, landlubbers called it a cannon and the barrel was 38 calibers long (5 inch times 38) or 190 inches long.

  Howdy godfather,
  
  Well, here is what I do know-- not a 5"/38 Navel, (on the right track, givette, with the 5" inch part) for they are just a tad over 32-1/2 inches long, well under the near 40". Plus the 5"/38 is straight walled with little if any taper, as your casing shows some taper near the mouth? (Picture is hard to see). My guess is toward a British round, anyone? I just don't know. yet.
  
  Price cannot be determined until correctly identified-- some are rare and bring comparable good money, and some are everyday stuff hardly at times worth shipping. And even then prices vary per where on the map you are.
