shotgun choke or thread protector

If you have a shotgun with an externally threaded barrel, could you honestly consider the thread protector as a choke tube.

  Yes, if any of the protector ID touches the wad/shot column. Even straight bored barrels are called cylinder "choked".

  the thread protector does extend slightly farther than the barrel, but the ID is larger than the ID of the barrel
