Winchester Model 1873
I have found a Winchester Model 1873 rifle, lever action, chambered in 38cal. 38/40, with a 27-1/2" octigon barrel, S/n is 227710B. The gun appears to be in good working order in fair to good condition. What would be a fair asking price for such a gun?

You possibly have a $500.00-700.00 shooter there. It has been refinished, possibly numerous times, and there is a lot of un-original hardware there.

With Italian replicas bring over 700.00 used,I'd say a real american made '73 would easily be worth 700.00 if the bore is good and it runs good. The caliber is not one for the more desireable ones, but still....it's a WINCHESTER. 0 -

That's about what I was thinking also. Maybe, a bit more ($50-100.00)on a really good day!0 -
A big minus is that the barrel and magazine have been sawed off, and a crude dovetail filed for a homemade front sight. (See next to last pic)
Also note the Peters .44 S&W Spl case (or live round?) used as a magazine plug!0
