Montana action in a Winchester stock

Hoping someone here can help......thinking of ordering a Montana action and have heard that Winchester stocks can be used. Does anyone know for sure?
I'd order an accurate Innovations stock but in my opinion they are way too expensive for what you get.

  I put a Montana short action in a Winchester stock. Minor inletting was required at the front of the action and beneath the floor plate. The front ring of the action extends about 1/8" further forward than the Winchester, and the floor plate is thicker - requiring inletting in order to obtain a flush fit --- S40
