ar-15 optics/sights/magnifier/etc....
I've been looking up differnt sights from all sorts of brand and i was just wondering what would be a good choice and would a magnifier also be a good ad-on...[?][?]

Aimpoint has been good to me. I'm not in a position that the magnifier is much of an asset. I'd rather have a standard low powered (or low power variable) that I can swap for the Aimpoint when more optic is needed. 0 -
I went with the Eotech 512 on one of my AR's and am more than happy with it. I've found that the magnifier is'nt nescessary for the type of shooting I do with that particular gun as I can hit mansized targets consistently at 350 yards. I also added a set of Magpul back-up sights just in case the electonics go down. 0 -
I really like the Leatherwood CMR series. It's a 1x4 with a great reticle. You can pick them up in the price range of around $350.
You can also buy it in a package deal with the Burris mount as pictured.
The wire coming from the scope cap is a remote on/off pressure switch witch is not part of the package.

An Aimpoint H-1 or T-1 on 1/3rd co witness mount with a magnifier behind it is a good set up. you need to be sure and get a low prfofile folding rear sight.
An Acog such as the TA-11 calibrated for 556 carbines with a red dot mounted on the ocular is also a good set up.
If I had to choose between the two I would go with the TA-11 set up, but if you want the gun to be as light as possible and intend to do most of your shooting with the point blank range of the 556 round( 0-300 yards), the H-1/magnifier set up would probably be the correct choice.0 -

here is another great deal it is basically a Aimpoint H-1, the only difference is it is finished in a chrome like manor. that is the reason it is priced 200 dollars below normal, This is a gunbroker exclusive.. It is a very nice optic, and it wouldnt take much effort to give it a paint job, if you dont like the color.

The leatherwood CMR is calibrated for the 556 round through 20" barrels. Not 16" or shorter barrels.0 -
I am not a fan of the Dot/magnifier. I know lots of people like them but I don't, just a personal opinion nothing more or less.
I am a huge fan of IOR and own some of their larger optics. While I would like to have one (or several) of their CQB style scopes since I am not using them to go into harms way I just cant justify that kind of cost.

I've been looking and trying to do some homework on a couple of products but I think I fell in love with EOTech MPO lll.. I think it is the best of the EOtech line up.
You Do have to dismount the optic to change batteries, and the optic doesnt take up much rail space. plus it has a calibration that will more or less line up with 16" carbine ballistics.
It is heavier then say an Aimpoint T-1/magnifier, and has far less battery life.
thats the trade off.
If you like it better, go with it.. I like EOTech.0
