Ruger trade values?
I have a Ruger semi auto .22 magnum (9/22?)with an extra rotory magazine. I bought the rifle new and it may have 150-200 rounds through it. It is in very good condition. A buddy has a Ruger .44 magnum semi auto carbine that he wants to trade me for my .22 mag. The .44 magnum has some honest wear, stock nicks and bluing loss on the barrel but functions fine. Would this be more or less an even trade value wise? I have seen some of the Ruger .22 magnums sell for what I consider a premium price a year or so ago but I have never priced the .44 magnum carbine. Thanks for your opinions.
Edit 1 Are there documented cases of the .22 magnum receiver cracking? I heard that the .22 mag conversion to 17hmr caused the most problems
and that there were other reasons for the discontinuation like slow sales, I don't really know but it has function great for me albeit not much use.
Edit 2 The Ruger .44 mag is the older style. He told me he has not had any feeding problems.
Edit 3 We couldn't come to terms on a trade. I talked with the shop that sold me the .22 magnum new and they advised me to keep it because it would be a rifle that would be difficult and expensive to replace. The shop is going to keep an eye out for a .44 Ruger carbine that they said would probably run around $400.00- $450.00 this summer. Thanks for all the good advice.

The 22 mag is worth about $15-200 more than the 44 magnum 0 -
the 10-22 magnum is worth WAY more. the 10-22 is worth 7-800 based on recent gunbroker sales 0 -
if the receiver cracks it won;t be worth nothing (discontinued) due to that problem 0 -

That maybe but you can buy stainless steel receivers for a quick but not a cheap swap. M.O.A. makes nice receivers. But like it's been mentioned you might wanna get some cash with the trade.0 -
Which semiauto 44 mag carbine? The older 'Deerstalker' style with the internal tube magazine that looks like a 10/22 or the newer one with a clip? 0 -
Check the auction side and some of the 22 mags are bringing BIG prices and I have the Ruger 44 carbine and it's very picky on types of ammo 0 -
Ruger 44 carbines are on my saved search email on the auction side. Sellers are routinely asking $525 to $650 or more for them, but $500 is about what true auctions are topping out at lately. That might trend upwards closer to deer season. 0 -

That 10-22 Magnum is worth about twice as much as what the 44 Carbines are...the older 44's. The newer Deerfield 44's are a little more. Your friend should owe you between $300.00-400.00 to trade.

You would be wise to look on the auction side for your 44 Carbine. There are several over there, and it will beat the price of any shop, I'm sure. It will cost you a transfer fee...what ever your shop of choice charges.
