ruger speed six 9mm
just picked up one of these and trying to find out some info, sn puts in at 1982, 158-14xxx cant find any production figures on how many were made, unfortunately could not find the box, but did come across half moon clips, how rare is the 9mm snub and what is approx value, thanks for any info, marc

FWIW yesterday I saw one in a local shop for $425.00. I'm in CA, the gun is "off roster" and harder to find in state so that price may be a touch high. I'm pondering buying the thing anyway. 0 -
I think they are a neat little gun.
I looked hard for a 4" to shoot IDPA with but never found one. Just as well, the rules were changed to make them non-competitive.0 -
For whatever reason the Blue Book adds $100 premium to the blued 9mm version which is the model 209 but does not add that premium to the stainless model 739(could be there were fewer blued versions but the book does not say--some of the Ruger forum guys will know specific production figures). Yours is in pretty nice shape and $300-$350 wouldn't be a bad price for it. The Blue Book I have puts a model like yours in 98% at $250 which I think is a little low. 0 -

EDIT!! thanks for the replies, this is very helpful , when I first saw the auction notice, that cought my eye, an odd ruger I never really heard of, what was upsetting, the day of auction, all the firearms were in back bed room, with someone watching over them, al the pistols were in a plastic freezer bag with tag for info, etc, in the closet were the boxes for the s&w 686 4" ss and s&w 659 mm, then outside on the table were the cleaning rods , brush , etc for the smiths, But I never came across the box for this ruger. A really nice remington xp 100 221 fireball in hard case leupold scope, had a factory soft pouch that should of went with pistol, but didnt, guess thats how they make their money, I knew what I wanted and where the moon clips were at. These guys had no clue what went to what, and none of the buyers seemed to mind, or didnt know. Now my father is after me to find him one, good luck thanks again guys.0 -

Nice GS-92, good find. Not a lot of 9MMs out there. As you know Ruger won't release production numbers. I'm in the $600 + or - some.

Just a wonder regarding the 9mm Rugers that is sort of on topic (but mostly not); I have a 9mm Federal cartridge in my random collection of cartridges. Was this the 9mm "answer" to 9mm revolvers/moon clips ala the .45 Auto Rim or a totally seperate cartridge-specific gun combo? (IE: the guns were marked and chambered 9mm Federal instead of 9mm Luger w/moon clips) 0 -
The 9mm Federal was a Charter Arms project with dedicated guns and ammunition, it did not amount to a 9mm Auto Rim.
It did not last long because it did not sell any better than any other gimmick round and because they got nervous when they realized it would chamber in a .38 S&W topbreak with about three times the design pressure.0
