King Nitro 22LR Pump
I have an old King Nitro 22LR pump rifle. Should 22 high velocity shells be used in it? Must have been made in 20's or 30's, maybe earlier, can't find much info on it. Thanks.

It's probably a Savage or Stevens made for Shapleigh Hardware of St Louis, who used the King Nitro brand name.
Does it have a clip magazine like this one?

Central Arms was also a fictional trade name used by Shapleigh Hardware. HRF is probably correct as to the maker.0 -
Your gun will probably function with highspeed .22s OK, but should last longer if standard velocity ammo is used. Why not give it a break, as it is probably 70-90 years old... 0 -
You are right it looks just like that photo in the auction, glad to finally find some info on it. King Nitro trademark was also used by Sears from 1908 to 1917. I'll probably get a couple of boxes of standard velocity shells. Thanks everybody. 0 -

1908-1915 Sears catalogs advertised a "Nitro King" single barrel shotgun, but nothing listed as "King Nitro"0 -

King Nitro with a tubalar magazine is probably a Svage model 25. I have also have a Febiger in my collection marked that way. King Nitro was a name used by Belknap Hardware.
