The Vepr is based on the RPK-74 light machine gun.
The Saigs is based on the AK-47.
Don't see that much difference between the two. Just a folding stock on the Vepr.

i don't know anything about NJ laws but i remember seeing something someone custom made for a saiga 12 for a customer in new jersey.

I did more homework. They are legal (for Now). I spoke to a guy on gunbroker in NJ and wouldn't sell it in state but I think he's mistaken because I bought one from another reputable shop and other shops said it was fine as well. Thanks for the info!
