I have a chance to purchase an 1895CB Marlin in 45/70, octagon barrel, about 25 inches long. It has a recoil pad and sling swivel studs. It is NRA 95 percent (looks to me, anyway). The gun is probably 7 or 8 years old. Any idea what it is worth?

  Try to find comparable guns on the two large on-line auctions. If you can find some that have sold recently use the actual selling price(s) to give you a ballpark value.
