I know corn cob media is not that expensive and someone is going to say "why bother". But, does anyone know the process of turning whole cobs into media?

  Just a guess but maybe run it thru a meat grinder. Try the coarse plate first. Tom

  thanks for input. I was more curious about cob treatment. Should they be air dries, oven dried, do you scrape all traces of kernal off? Was reading comment on MidwayUSA on media product and the guy complained about kernals stuck in caseings. I thought the kernals were removed?

  I had the same problem with the Corn Cob stuff last time I tried it. It has to do with the diameter. To large it fills up and sticks in the brass. Don't be aggravating yourself with it. Go to one of the large chain pet stores and buy ground walnut shells. They sell it as reptile bedding. A 10 lb bag will probably last for a year depending on how much tumbling you do, with no hassle of the walnut sticking in the brass.
