according to the blue book your A5 was produced in 1988 by Mirouki in Japan-the PP in the serial # gives the date of manufacture. The newest blue book I have is 2008 and it list the shotgun of 100% @ $925, so it should be somewhere in that neighborhood but always remember it is what someone is willing to pay, not necessarily what some book says. Also they came with the Invector System choke tubes not the Invector Plus tubes that Browning is producing now in case you want to get more tubes. Good luck.

Per federal law, dating to the 1890's. Manufactured goods imported into the USA, have to be marked with country of origin. Even though Browning's name is on the shotgun they are only the importer/distributor.

Re the above, and the date of manufacture of the shotgun. The guy who's selling the shotgun is either blind or trying to BS you, because the Belgian made guns tend to bring higher prices.

Country of mfg will be marked on the barrel/ serial number on the reciever and barrel should be the same.

Well, it sounds like the seller does not know what he has, or he is trying to BS you. I would pass on this, unless you can see with your own eyes. If that serial Number dates to 1988, then it was made in Japan...or at least the reciever was. If the barrel says Belgium on it, then the barrel has been swapped. Stay away from it, if you are looking for a collector.
