Enfield No.4 Mk1 period scope / bipod.
Hey all, thanks in advance once again... I recently was given a Enfield No.4 MK1... I've already got a thread going and you guys have been gracious enough to teach me a little of the history on this rifle as well as clearly identify mine. Now I want to turn this thing into a WWII tack driver but maintain the historical look and feel of the gun. Can anyone tell me any information on the period sniper scopes and/or bi-pods? part numbers? where to buy? prices?

I had a No4 Mk2 done up, went with an old Bushnell scope in an enamel finish that matched the rifle instead of the repro scope. Cost about $125.00 to drill & tap the mount i addition.

There never was a period looking bipod or bipod for it to begin with.
Sarco I believe has reproduction scope mounts, but not sure about any scopes.0 -
It would be a mistake to try and covert to the sniper version. One would have to have the receiver drilled and tapped for the proper scope mount, then find the mount and the proper scope(pretty hard to find, have the butt stock with the raised cheek piece, or attach one. In other words not worth the cost or trouble and really not have one that was original. Best to leave alone and if really interested find on of the correct guns(big bucks). 0 -

If mistake means not worth the $$$, I suppose. The repro parts are easy to find and with the exception of the repro scope ($600.00) the deal can be done for about $300.00 including the drill & tap. Not worth the money because all you've got is a reproduction for sure, but it's not difficult.
A middle ground might be the No4s imported by Century with pads alread installed. Although with Century one hardly knows what one will get for quality.0
