CZ Scout 410/22 question
Can you shoot a .45 LC in a .410 that has a 18 in barrel? I probably wouldn't but in a SHTF scenario???

Not a good idea. Full choke .410 barrel runs .395Dia. .45 LC bullet is .452Dia. Shooting a .45 LC in a .410 is a recipe for disaster.
It would probably be healthier for you to use it as a club, then shooting .45 LC through it.0 -
thanks , I have a club if the SHTF... Its just a question I was wondering. I guess the bond deringers are less than full? What is cylinder choke dia for .410? 0 -
And what type of choke do these CZ (springfield clones?) have?? 0 -

I measured the choke on a old Stevens .22/.410 over and under with a dial caliper. You will have to measure the choke on the CZ the same way. The Bond derringer probably has no choke at all, if is sold as a dual caliber .410/.45LC. Because the .45LC is .452dia., that's what the rifling at the muzzle of the Bond derringer will measure.0 -
there is a diffrence trying to put a .45 diamiter projectile thru a .41 diamiter hole..the bond is a .45 diameter hole and you are shooting .41 diamiter thru it[;)] 0 -
Even Cylinder bore or Skeet (the two largest) are not going to be any larger than .410 and you still have to get a .452 bullet out of the muzzle. The Bond is a .45 Colt pistol (.45 diameter) which allows the use of a .410 shell. What you are talking about is the exact opposite: Using a .45 Colt round in a .410 shotgun so the Bond does not apply here. Besides the bore restriction there is an issue of chamber pressure. One of our shotgun guys will know for sure but I seem to recall that the pressure of a .410 is around 12,000 psi while a .45 Colt runs about 14,000, or about 15% higher. While that is probably within the limits of the CZ barrel, firing oversized bullets is only going to increase that chamber pressure. 0 -

Mark makes some good points. The firearms that are labeled 45 Colt/410, are in fact 45 Colt barrels, with a 410 chamber, allowing 410.
Another addition to the chamber pressures that Mark mentioned...Those pressures were taken in each of the perspective barrel dimensions. In otherwords, the 45 colt pressures were taken in a 45 Colt barrel, not an undersized 410 barrel. With the amount of restriction a 410 barrel would place on the 45 caliber projectile, I would estimate the presure would be about double, or maybe a little more.
So the answer to your question...yes, you can shoot a 45 Colt in a 410, but it is not a wise decision. Yes, there will be a lt of folks say they have been doing it for years, and even with a 44 Magnum...sometimes, it is better to be lucky, than ______(you fill in the blank how ever you feel it is best filled).

My CZ/Springfield M6 measures .397 at the muzzle. 0 -
A long time ago I worked up a load for a 22/410 savage using 3" military aluminium shells. 5 Hard cast .383 lead balls (bore dia at end of the full choke) on top of card wads and Hur 2400. They were sealed with a card wad on top with a slight roll crimp and water glass. At 40 yards it would print interlocking holes much like the olimpic? symbol. 0 -

Funny thing you bring that up. Winchester made some 410 ammo for American Derringer Co., that had a loading of 3 000 Buck pellets. I tried some of this ammo in my EAA IZH-43 SxS, in 410 bore. At 30 yards, it put both barrels to the point of aim, in a 6-8 inch circle. I believe they still market this load.
