No problem leaving them around as SHTF guns, as long as you don't forget where you put them, and some youngons get their hands on them. Also I wouldn't be scatering them around condition one, i.e. cocked and locked. I would have them with a loaded magazine without a round in the chamber and safety off.

I have "secret" places and objects that are just the place for such. Out of the way from little hands and in plain sight of adults, they never know they were there.

Lot of surplus guns out there (CZ, FEG, Arcus, etc.) for the same $ or a little more.

I just can't stand the looks of them but they are better than a pointy stick.

    Just for laughs:

I was looking at buying some of these guns. They look like good guns to put in multiple places if you need something to go bang in a pinch. They don't look like much, but like I said, they go bang I assume. For $110-$150 each I could consider it...

Anyone have one they care to give their opinion on[?]

    That's basically right.

If you don't expect much in the way of accuracy, ergonomics, or durability, they're adequate.

By the way, there is only one place you need a gun. . .that's in your hand.

If you want to always have access to a gun, the best thing to do is keep one on your person; not secreted in various "hidey holes" throughout your home.

    MY OPINION:
These are scrap metal and not very good scrap metal at that. They are made of pot metal. Pot metal is a zinc-based alloy so crappy that there is no general standard for it.

    Your statement:
They look like good guns to put in multiple places if you need something to go bang in a pinch.

There are too many other guns out there with steel or quality aluminum alloy frames to trust your or your loved ones' lives crappers like the HiPoint guns. For example, you can buy two used Makarov semi auto guns that fire the 9x18mm Russian cartridge (easy to get ammo) for maybe $450. These are ultra reliable inexpensive (not cheap) guns.

How many here bashing these guns have even shot a Hi Point let alone broke one? If they are such a bad gun how come their business is so brisk?

I had a 9mm one for about a week (got in a good deal with a few other guns) before it ended up in a trade to a buddy of mine. He is the guy that does not understand what maintenance on guns is and he shot the heck out of it. If I needed another I would not hesitate to buy one.

ABC nailed it on all points.

I have a little trigger time with one in .40S&W. My only negative input, UGLY UGLY UGLY. It ran without any hiccups and the accuracy surprised me, you would not have wanted to be the bulls eye on my cousins target.
