    Remington long guns generally have a coded date on the left side of the barrel, just forward of the receiver.

    As far as the recall work is concerned contact Remington. You can get all their contact details by GOOGLEing.

    Thanks for the tip, rufe. I didn't notice another number forward of the receiver on this rifle, but I'll have another look when I get home this evening. I've already found the info on the trigger recall at the Remington site and I don't think this gun ever had the recall work done.

    Just bought one. Get a good recoil pad- that little bitty rifle WILL leave marks on you! Should be a great deer rifle. Mine had NOT had the recall work performed, and it WOULD fire when safety released. You can contact Remington customer service, they will check their SN database. They sent me a prepaid UPS shipping tag, boxed rifle, took to UPS hub, Remington sent me a link where I could check progress of repair work. Shipped back to me when finished. They also cleaned action and rifle, test fired rifle. The SIDE of the trigger (not guard, trigger itself) will be stamped with a tiny letter when recall is performed. If you don't have it, get an owner's manual from Remington. Have you figured out how to remove the bolt yet? :}
