    Your gun was made in 1861. You could get a Letter from Colt for your pistol, but it would only tell you where they shipped it to (e. g. New York NAVY YARD, or the US Army Arsenal, Washington D.C.) and it would cost you $300.00 (More if the pistol was sent to a famous person) plus a long wait. There is no way, short of an exaustive search of Army records in Washington, DC to find which unit was issued your gun. Please bear in mind, that although a '60 Army is a valuable antique, amongst other antique guns it is rather commonplace. There were over 200,000 made and sold between 1860 and 1873.

    I was hoping someone might have a copy of the springfield research books that provide such info.
