30 Caliber Muzzle Brake

I'm looking for a non-indexing muzzle brake for a 30 caliber rifle - the muzzle is threaded for "AR standard" 5/8X24 and barrel diameter at the muzzle is .750. I'd like the rear end of the brake to slip over the barrel a bit and cover the shoulder, give it a clean look. The gun is a T/C Encore and the cartridge is a 300 WM - the Encore weighs about 6.5 lbs so I'd like the brake to be effective. And I'd kind of like to buy at around $80.00, so the Badger Thruster is a bit more than I want to spend.

Anything out there?

Edit: Regarding the additional noise or not using a brake I understand and generally go that way. I have heavy recoiling rifles in 375, 416 & 458 and don't mind it in those guns. On this one I'd like to avoid it and don't mind the additional muzzle blast.

    If none of our folks can reference any specific brakes that meet your requirements, you might try Brownells. Either their on-line catalog, or give their customer service reps a call.

    I buy quite a bit at Brownells and checked there first. I thought Smith had a brake that fit the bill (I have their direct connect non-indexing on my M1A Scout) but they don't have one for sale, just as part of a M1A kit. Kind of surprised they don't have one.

    I personally don't use breaks, as I can't deal with the noise well. However, when it comes to recoil reduction brakes, there is one guy on this forum who has vast experience...Nononsense. I am sure he will be along sometime. If he does not show up, you might want to e-mail him, if you haven't already. He is always willing, and at his best helping other's.

    In the meantime, if you have not already considered a SVL Limbsaver pad, you should do so. They are for real, and the best pad I have found...as I don't use a break.

    I have a muzzle brake on a 300 Win Mag and can assure you it's loud. Finding an off the shelf unit with all the features you desire may not happen. You may have to go with a custom but it won't be $80. Decide which features you really gotta have and compromise on the others.

    It's a direct connect to the M1A, but I seem to recall it's advertised as having some sort of dual threading that allows it to go on the AR 5/8x24 too. Does anyone know for sure?

    I haven't been able to find this one advertised specifically for the AR, only in a kit for the M1A.

    I like the JP Enterprise's "T" tube looking thaing that will make your rod in to a tank cannon looking thing. I also like "BOSS" system because it's adjustable. Now with the AR threads I recon I'd look in to the Vortex do-hicky.

    Not sure if this is what you want but I have had a few of the Gentry quiet brakes and they worked fine for me. They only increase the noise by less than 2 decibles which is nothing considering how loud the muzzle blast is.
