Colt 1903 Front Sight

I have a Colt 1903 .380 in the very low 60,000 serial numbers that I inherited from my Great Uncle....Gun is in excellent condition and I have shot it only once in the last 15 years and that was the other day and the front sight popped off......spent hours at the range and never found it. It is the half moon type that is tapered...Can anyone help me out? This gun has sentimental value to me.

  #44 says it is for a .38, not .380 hammerless...could they be interchangeable?
