1975 Ruger SBH 5.5" Ported Bbl Value?
I just recently acquired a 1975 Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 5 1/2" ported barrel and smooth cylinder in 44 Mag. Current production shows fluted cylinders only in 5 1/2". Ive seen some auctions with "Magna Port" models but that has their name scribed on the barrel.
Here are some photos of the porting and crown. Someone else mentioned that the shape of the crown was different for Magna Ports.

I need to do some more cleaning it appears. 8mp camera picks up a lot my eyes couldnt.
Any idea of its value? Same as current SBH's or more? The original owner isnt available for history. I purchased from a relative that isn't "in to" guns. Got this and a 1975 Win 94 30-30 in 98% and virtually unfired for $500.

You're right. Doesn't look Mag=Na=Port to me.
I'd say you paid a fair price for the two.
I have a flattop .44 that I got for a good price because it had been magnaported. Louder, but shoots great. Assuming the porting was well done I'd say you have a good shooter, but most likely not a collector.
Enjoy.
p.s. Welcome to the Forum. Many other will be along shortly, I'm sure. One or two might even agree with me. We should both learn a thing or two before it's all over![:D][:D]0 -
$375
Definitely not factory MagnaPort.
