sell my gun
i have an 1883 colt saa i would like to sell soon but im in so cal.
i dont know where to go or how to sell it quickly it's all original in pretty good cond. for being as old as it is it's just been sitting in my closet or many years now i need the money but i don't want to go to a pawn shop and get much less than it's worth can anyone help me.i also have a 1911 winchester 22.cal model 06

yeah i thought about doing that but i kinda was looking for somewhere local so i don't have to wait and send it out and all that but that mybe the only way to go 0 -
Since the handgun in question was made in 1883 it is by definition an antique and can be sold privately. The Winchester is over 50 years old, a Curio and Relic and under CA law can also be sold privately. If you don't want to do a private sale you can put them on consignment with a dealer but his cut will be much higher than the fees you'll pay if you list the guns here in the auctions. The Colt will attract a lot of attention from buyers all over the country and since it is an antique shipping it involves far fewer restrictions than a modern handgun. 0 -
If you want what its worth,,sell it here as Mark suggests,,don't know how "fast" you need the money,,put a 3 day auction here over the holiday,,and transaction could be done in a week with the current value being brought. (also thow an auction number up for us to see) 0 -
Unless you already have people interested in them, selling on Gunbroker is the way to go. You reach a much wider and numerous number of people and if the right two people are interested, you can get top dollar. 0 -
Good photos, low mimimum bid and no reserve and it will bring what it is worth here. The good stuff does not sell cheap here. 0 -
I agree with the above, however, I would go with a 7-day auction to ensure you are allowing all interested parties to see it....but that is just my opinion and others may have good reasons for their opinions.
I would also advise that you register on the auction right away and that you do some research by reviewing the closed or "ended" auctions for guns similar to yours going back at least sixty days. That will give you a good idea of what the comparable sales were and allow you to develop sales strategy from an informed perspective.
Also, a lot of guys on here say to list your item for one cent ($00.01), with no reserve and let the market determine the price, which it will in any case. If you have a starting bid that is too high or put a reserve price on your item, that can be problematic. Many people will not even look at an item with a reserve price. These are things for you to decide.
The two major gun shops around me charge 15% for consignments, so for a gun that is worth $2500, they will get $375, which is too much to pay, in my opinion. Listing on Gunbroker will almost certainly sell the gun faster and cost you less in sales commission. The only thing you have to watch out for is that the payment you receive is legitimate, being via a guaranteed safe method, such as US Postal money orders, certified check (call the bank to check on the validity of the check) or cash.0 -
Selling Guns on the Forum is not allowed..One must be a Dealer with a currant License..This will give you a way to Legally sell your Guns and thru a Licensed Dealer... 0
