Garand scabbard.

A good friend of mine gave me an original leather Garand scabbard a few days ago, and I'm trying to figure out the markings on it. The date stamp is 1942, so that's obviously when it was made, but what about the rest of the markings?

Any ideas?

Also, what type of conditioner should I use to soften the leather back up? Neatsfoot oil, perhaps? I plan on using the scabbard, and don't want to risk cracking it.

  Don't use Neatsfoot oil on it.
  Look up Pecard dressings.
  They recommend their "Antique Leather Dressing".

  35, Please look again, I believe that should be JQMD (J? quarter-master depot?). And yes, I recommend the Pecard dressing. A lot of the museums and collectors use that on their leather.

  Neatsfoot oil is the traditional leather treatment. The initials were probably the owners initials. Lots of these were made out in Oklahoma years ago.
